LON ERICKSON, Football, Elburn (St. Charles HS), Business - Earned four football letter as a quarterback and was chosen the 1996 team's "Most Valuable Offensive Player"... Erickson was awarded the 1996 Gagliardi Trophy, the Division III "Player of the Year", showing excellence in combining both athletics and academics... He was also named 1996 CCIW "Offensive Player of the Year" and was chosen to first team of the all-CCIW squad... Had a 24-6 record as IWU's starting signal-caller... Quarterbacked IWU to two CCIW championships in three seasons and into the 1996 NCAA Division III quarterfinals... Erickson finished his career sound in IWU total offense with 7,299 yards and his 3,029 yards this season is the best ever at IWU... He is also second in single-season passing yards in school history with 2,551 and second in career passing yards with 6,538... He is Illinois Wesleyan's career leader in pass completions with 495 and is IWU's career leader in passing TDs with 62... Was named a first team GTE Academic All-America and was named Academic All-American of the Year of the College Division... He was named to the second team of the North Region all-region squad chosen by Don Hansen's Football Gazette... For his efforts against Albion in the first round of the 1996 Division III playoffs, Erickson was named co-winner of the Division III "Offensive Player of the Week" from Don Hansen's Football Gazette... Erickson's effort vs. Millikin set a Division III record for marksmanship when he as 27 of 31 (.871 completion percentage)... In the same game he set a school record for completions in a game... The 392 air yards is the second best in a single game at IWU, and his 394 yards of total offense is fifth among all-time IWU game performances... Erickson has a string of 164 consecutive pass attempts without an interception... Erickson was CCIW "Offensive Player of the Week" twice in 1996 and six times in his career... 1996 co-captain... His is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Erickson, Lake St. Louis, Mo.
