Illinois Wesleyan senior Anthony Lopez is in the first class at IWU ever to have made four consecutive NCAA Division III regional baseball tournament appearances.
Through May 14, 2013, Lopez had played in 156 games in his career and he started in 32 games and batted .245 as a freshman for the team that won the NCAA national championship.
A business (marketing) major at Illinois Wesleyan, he is the son of Robert and Angela Lopez.


Why you chose Illinois Wesleyan: I chose Illinois Wesleyan because the wide variety of trees scattered throughout campus.

IWU class you’re most qualified to teach: Any general education class. You can literally talk/ make a class about anything.

The hardest challenge about being a Division III student-athlete is: Missing class…?

Worst grade in a class you ever got – what and when? I received a C in a 100 level Philosophy class…I still don’t know how that is possible when it was an opinionated course.

I’m deathly afraid of ... : Bees and spiders. They sneak up on you at the worst times.

Worst habit: Checking my email, never really understood the concept. Just call someone on the phone!

Most expensive traffic ticket: Just a $100 speeding ticket. (Knock on wood)

Language I’d like to learn: Spanglish

The longest I could survive without my cell phone: 45 minutes

One word your mother or father would use to describe you: Adorable

Favorite sports figure: The Babe [Ruth]. He was very successful and very unhealthy at the same time.

My greatest moment in sports was: Winning the 2012 NCAA Division III national championship.

The best player I ever faced was: While at Wesleyan, Bruce Maxwell (Birmingham Southern).

Worst dresser on my team: Definitely not me…

Thing that’s been in my fridge the longest: Triple tuna sandwich with mayonnaise. Been in there for over two months now.

Person I’m dying to have dinner with: Morgan Freeman

Favorite food: Zebra Cakes

Vegetable I won’t eat: Onion…it’s a texture thing

Pepsi or Coke? Coke

Favorite TV show: "Dexter" or "Planet Earth"

Favorite musical group: Bloomington-Normal Orchestra. They have a great violin section.

Favorite movie: "Baseketball"

If a movie were made of my life, I would like the following person to play me: Denzel Washington

If my life were on TV as a reality show, I’d call it: "Leaning Like a Cholo"

The person in history I would most like to meet is: Paul Revere

My dream job would be: Florist

Place I’d most like to live: Somewhere warm near a beach

Two things that are tops on my “bucket list”: 1) Climbing Mount Everest; 2) Scuba diving with the sharks

My possession that would fetch the most on eBay: My eyelashes… because they are luscious.

Who is the luckiest person in the world? Justin Verlander—makes over $5000 a pitch!

What I miss most about being in the third grade: Getting to paint with my fingers.
