Illinois Wesleyan senior third baseman Julie Josten (Palatine, Ill., Fremd HS) has played on three straight teams that have advanced to the final round of the NCAA Division III championships. As of April 4, 2019, she ranks No. 4 in career home runs at IWU and is also No. 19 in hits, No. 16 in doubles and No. 17 in runs batted in.
In 2016 and 2018, she was chosen to the NCAA All-Regional tournament teams. She was chosen to the first team of the all-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin softball squads as a junior and was a second team selection as a freshman, when she led the team with eight home runs.
Daughter of Minda and John Josten, Julie is a nursing major with a minor in Hispanic studies at Illinois Wesleyan.


Why you chose to attend Illinois Wesleyan: It was the best place for me to play softball and become a nurse
 
IWU class you’re most qualified to teach: I liked to think I was a part of the v'ball team, so coaching softball and volleyball
 
The hardest challenge about being a Division III student-athlete is: Trying to write a paper that’s due at midnight on the bus home from an away game (that we lost) and then being told we have to untarp the field at 7 am
 
Worst grade in a class you ever got – what and when? I love all my C’s equally
 
I’m deathly afraid of ... : Peanut Butter
 
Worst habit: Scraping my teeth on my fork
 
Most expensive traffic ticket: $200 speeding ticket
 
Language I’d like to learn: Well I’m a Spanish minor, but still Spanish
 
The longest I could survive without my cell phone: Forever
 
One word your mother or father would use to describe you: My mom’s first response was “ask your dad” and my dad’s response was “confident” (my mom’s later response was “adventuresome”)
 
Favorite sports figure: My dad, go Badgers!
 
My greatest moment in sports was: Playing for a national championship last season!!!!!
 
The best player I ever faced was: Sam Berghoff in a scrimmage when she’s on the other team
 
Worst dresser on my team: Hayley Earl
 
Thing that’s been in my fridge the longest: Applesauce
 
Person I’m dying to have dinner with: Delaney Olinger
 
Favorite food: Mac n cheese

My dream job would be: White-water rafting guide

If you come back in another life, what would you like to return as: My dog
 
Two things that are tops on my “bucket list”: 1) go on an African safari; 2) hike the Pacific Crest Trail
