As of Feb. 6, 2019, Illinois Wesleyan senior Maddie Merritt (Bloomington, Ill., Tri-Valley HS) is eighth all-time at IWU in scoring with 1,290 points, ranks 15th in rebounds (534) and her .854 career free throw percentage is the best in an IWU uniform. She also owns the IWU record with 392 free throws. As of this date, Merritt is 11th nationally with an .882 free throw percentage and 65th with a .509 field goal percentage.
Merritt was named to the second team of all-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin all-star squads as a junior and as a sophomore and has been a CCIW Player of the Week three times in her career, including twice this season.
The daughter of Ron and Karen Merritt, she is majoring in business administration at Illinois Wesleyan.


Why you chose to attend Illinois Wesleyan: The number one reason was to play basketball, of course, but another big reason is because it’s close to home

My greatest moment in sports was: Beating Wheaton in the conference championship last year
 
The best player I ever faced was: Chad Cusac
 
Worst dresser on my team: Emily Farris
 
Thing that’s been in my fridge the longest: I’m guessing one of the dressings that have been in there since we moved in which was the summer before junior year
 
Person I’m dying to have dinner with: My parents (so I don’t have to pay)
 
Favorite food: Ice-cream
 
Vegetable I won’t eat: Broccoli, the texture grosses me out

My dream job would be: Babysitting dogs
 
Place I’d most like to live: Anywhere that doesn’t get negative (thermometer) degrees
 
If you come back in another life, what would you like to return as: Definitely a dog
 
Two things that are tops on my “bucket list”: 1) Go to Ireland; 2) Own a Tesla
