Illinois Wesleyan senior Alex Guess (Kirkwood, Mo., Kirkwood HS) holds the school record in the 3-meter event (11 dives) with a score of 409.99.
As a junior he was named College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin "Diver of the Week" three times and was an all-conference honoree as he placed second in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events at the CCIW championships.
As a sophomore he was all-conference for his second place finish in the 1-meter diving at the CCIW championships while also placing fourth in the 3-meter diving. He finished fifth in the 1-meter diving (11 dives) at the CCIW championships as a freshman.
Majoring in biology at Illinois Wesleyan, he is the son of Barbara and David Guess.

Why you chose to attend Illinois Wesleyan: Only school in the CCIW where I could not have a teammate for four years and train for Tokyo 2020 in peace

IWU class you’re most qualified to teach: How to Smack and Then Cry Underwater for a Lil Bit and Then Pull It Together and Resurface and Smile 401

The hardest challenge about being a Division III student-athlete is: Not being able to get a scholarship for jumping into water repeatedly

Worst grade in a class you ever got – what and when? I got a C in orchestra in sixth grade because I tried to forge my mom’s signature multiple times on forms saying that we had practiced at home

I’m deathly afraid of ... : Getting a teammate

Worst habit: Consistently skipping leg day despite my sport consisting almost entirely of jumping

Most expensive traffic ticket: Junior year of high school and my parents almost disowned me

Language I’d like to learn: The rhetoric my coach uses to trick me into trying a new dive

The longest I could survive without my cell phone: Until I needed to Instagram a new smack video

One word your mother or father would use to describe you: Accident

Favorite sports figure: John Elmerson Fabriga (google him you won’t regret it)

My greatest moment in sports was: I’m planning on doing a cannonball for my last dive at Conference this year so probably that

The best player I ever faced was: A few nationally-ranked divers that had no business being in Division III

Worst dresser on my team: Theoretically me by default (perks of no teammates haha!) but I also think three shades of blue in the same outfit is acceptable

Thing that’s been in my fridge the longest: Nothing lasts long in there

Person I’m dying to have dinner with: Anyone who is tryna pay ;-)

Favorite food: Leftover seafood gumbo from Dugout

Vegetable I won’t eat: Green beans … dry heaved a lil bit just typing that out honestly

Pepsi or Coke? Shasta Cola , currently too broke to afford luxuries like brand name soda

Favorite TV show: "Grey’s Anatomy"

Favorite musical group: Pitbull

Favorite movie: "Human Centipede 3"

If a movie were made of my life, I would like the following person to play me: Kanye West

If my life were on TV as a reality show, I’d call it: "The Midwestern Tragedies of a Justin Bieber Look-Alike"

The person in history I would most like to meet is: Greg Louganis

My dream job would be: Quality control at Chik-fil-A

Place I’d most like to live: Basement of Ames

If you come back in another life, what would you like to return as: Harambe

Two things that are tops on my “bucket list”: 1. Star in a Life Alert commercial
2. Visit every continent

My possession that would fetch the most on eBay: The diploma I’m trying to get in May

Who is the luckiest person in the world? Whoever winds up marrying Selena Gomez aka me

What I miss most about being in the third grade: Lying to my mom daily that I didn’t use all my lunch money on Cosmic Brownies and Fruit Roll-Ups
