Illinois Wesleyan senior Maisy Bowden (Des Peres, Mo., Kirkwood HS) has earned three volleyball letters and, in IWU career records, she currently ranks No. 15 in total blocks (236).
Majoring in psychology and French at Illinois Wesleyan, she is the daughter of Kathy Bowden Thurston and Scott Henderson.


Why you chose to attend Illinois Wesleyan: When I came on my visit, something clicked and it felt like home! Also I thought the campus was beautiful.
 
IWU class you’re most qualified to teach: Dog Lab
 
The hardest challenge about being a Division III student-athlete is: Juggling the time commitment
 
Worst grade in a class you ever got – what and when? A- in some history class my freshman year … I hate myself for this answer.
 
I’m deathly afraid of ... : Aliens
 
Worst habit: Getting very angry and aggressive when I become hungry
 
Most expensive traffic ticket: $25 but I got it two days in a row dangit
 
Language I’d like to learn: Ukranian
 
The longest I could survive without my cell phone: IDK I don’t feel that attached to it
 
One word your mother or father would use to describe you: Apparently “hard-working” (this is not the word I would choose for myself)
 
Favorite sports figures: None ... I don’t care about sports
 
My greatest moment in sports was: When my hands got caught behind my knees when I was trying to pass a ball and I fell over
 
The best player I ever faced was: A few girls I played against in club who play for Missouri state now
 
Worst dresser on my team: Annie Cummings

Thing that’s been in my fridge the longest: There’s a grape that’s been in there for like two weeks, I think
 
People I’m dying to have dinner with: Jane Goodall, Barack Obama
 
Favorite food: Cheese
 
Vegetable I won’t eat: Lettuce
 
Pepsi or Coke? Pepsi

Favorite TV show: "Lost" or "Smallville"
 
Favorite musical group: Not a group but I like Khalid right now
 
Favorite movies: "Lord of the Rings", "Fellowship of the Ring"
 
If a movie were made of my life, I would like the following person to play me: Kiera Knightly
 
If my life were on TV as a reality show, I’d call it: “Turtlenecks and Awkward Encounters”
 
The person in history I would most like to meet is: Charles Darwin
 
My dream job would be: Studying social cognition in bonobos and other primates
 
Place I’d most like to live: Gloucester, Massachusetts or somewhere on the East Coast
 
If you come back in another life, what would you like to return as: My cat, Simon
 
Two things that are tops on my “bucket list”: I’ve done a lot of them, but 1. Is get into a fight and win and 2. Get published in primate cognition
 
My possession that would fetch the most on eBay: My coin collection (it’s a hefty one!!!! Everyone should come see it)
 
Who is the luckiest person in the world? Ellen Furlong (I want her life)
 
What I miss most about being in the third grade: Nothing ... I hated being a child
