Illinois Wesleyan senior Nia Joiner (Lombard, Ill., Glenbard East HS) was the national champion in the 60 meter dash in the 2014 NCAA Division III indoor championships and finished second in the event in the 2015 national meet. After winning the national 60, she was featured in Sports Illustrated magazine.
At the 2016 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin meet she was first in the 60 meter dash in a time of 7.51 seconds that tied the Division III mark set by Lincoln University's Rhondale Jones in the 2001 Penn State Open. Joiner was named the "National Track Athlete of the Week" by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Joiner won the 55 and 100 in the CCIW outdoor meet and was fifth in the 100 at the MCAA outdoor championships in 2015. She was sixth in the 100 at the 2014 outdoor championships after winning the 100 and long jump in the CCIW outdoor meet.
Majoring in psychology with minors in french and exercise science at Illinois Wesleyan, she is the daughter of Walter Joiner and Norma King.
