Six Titans Earn All-CCIW; Winter Newcomer of the Year

2015 All-CCIW Men's Lacrosse Team

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- Illinois Wesleyan freshman midfielder Nick Winter was chosen as the "Newcomer of the Year" and joined five other Titans on the first-ever College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin all-conference squads, as voted on by the CCIW's head men's lacrosse coaches and announced on Monday, April 27.

Winter was joined on the first team by freshman attacker Alex Lambert and sophomore defender Max Porter while sophomore attacker Tim Smith, sophomore midfielder Michael Julius and junior defender Ryan Kunzi were second team selections.

Winter (Arlington Heights, Ill./St. Viator HS) led the conference in assists per game with 2.40 and was fourth with 4.20 points per game.

Lambert (Burr Ridge, Ill./Fenwick HS) led the CCIW with 5.60 points per game, was second with 3.60 goals per game and fourth with 2.0 assists per game.

Porter (St. Charles, Ill./Wheaton-St. Francis HS) was third in league play with 5.40 ground balls per game.

Smith (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East HS) and Julius (Arlington Heights, Ill./St. Viator HS) tied for fifth in conference action with 2.20 goals per game.

Kunzi (Riverwoods, Ill./Deerfield HS) collected 11 ground balls and had three caused turnovers.

As a team, Illinois Wesleyan led the CCIW in per-game points (25.20), goals (14.4) and assists (10.8).

THE CCIW TOURNAMENT: Illinois Wesleyan (11-6, 3-2 CCIW) has the No. 3 seed in the inaugural CCIW men's lacrosse tournament and plays at No. 2 seed Augustana (12-4, 4-1 CCIW) in Rock Island at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29. The two teams met last Wednesday at Tucci Stadium with the Vikings coming away with a 11-7 victory ... League champion Carthage (15-3, 5-0 CCIW) will host Elmhurst (7-8, 2-3 CCIW) in Wednesday's other semifinal game.

OTHER CCIW HONORS: Augustana junior attacker Scott Davis earned CCIW "Offensive Player of the Year" honors, while Carthage senior face-off specialist Rémy Giacotto won the conference's "Defensive Player of the Year" distinction. Carthage's David Neff earned the CCIW "Coach of the Year" honor after leading the Red Men to the CCIW's regular season title in 2015.
