BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team officially closed out the 2025 season as Head Coach Zach Iannucci announced its team awards. Five Titans were recognized with accolades for their impact and accomplishments during the season.

The Titans wrapped up the 2025 season in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, finishing with a 14-3 overall record. Illinois Wesleyan completed its seventh consecutive undefeated CCIW schedule (4-0) to claim the regular season title, before going on to win its seventh CCIW Tournament Championship with a 16-13 victory over Elmhurst University. IWU led the conference with nine student-athletes earning All-CCIW honors and Iannucci was named the CCIW Coach of the Year for the fourth time in his career.

IWU has now made seven NCAA postseason appearances in its 12 seasons and even made a run to the Elite Eight in 2021. The Titans finished out the season ranked 21st in ground balls per game (40.35), 35th in caused turnovers per game (11.65), and its scoring offense (14.88) sits 29th nationally.

IWU's Lifetime Achievement Award went to fifth-year Gage Black (Peoria, Ill.-Dunlap). Black has been a crucial piece in the Titan Lacrosse foundation for the past five seasons, earning All-American Honorable Mention in two of his five seasons. A two-year captain for the Green and White, Black has been apart of five of IWU's seven CCIW titles and NCAA tournament appearances. This season saw Black total 46 points on 37 goals and nine assists. He owns the program record for career man-up goals (36) and sits second in career goals with 184.

Senior Colin Tervo (West Linn, Ore.-West Linn) was named the team's Most Valuable Player after captaining IWU to a phenomenal season. The senior goalie played all but one game between the pipes this season and finished with a 13-3 record in goal. Tervo finished his senior season with 219 saves, padding the single-season saves record he secured earlier in the season. In each of his final two games donning the Green and White, Tervo racked up 23 saves to set and tie the single-game program saves record. Tervo finished out his collegiate career with 549 saves, becoming only the second Titan in school history to surpass the 500 mark, and owns a .532 career save percentage.

Senior captain Sam Skelton (Portland, Ore.-Franklin) was named IWU's Defensive MVP. A two-time All-CCIW first team selection, Skelton played in all 17 games and totaled a team-high 29 caused turnovers and racked up 50 ground balls. Skelton scored four goals and had two assists on the year. Skelton caps off his collegiate career ranking fourth in program history with 70 career caused turnovers and ranks fourth in single-season caused turnovers (30).

Earning the Offensive MVP honor was sophomore Timothy McHugh (Orland Park, Ill.-Mount Carmel). As the Titans' key distributor, Timothy McHugh led the team with 76 points on the year with a team-high 49 assists while also putting away 27 goals of his own. Additionally, he accrued 28 ground balls and had seven caused turnovers on the year. The sophomore notched First Team All-CCIW accolades in his second season donning the Green and White.

Junior transfer Billy McHugh (Orland Park, Ill.-Mount Carmel) was awarded the Newcomer of the Year honor after coming in and having an immediate impact on the team. The defender earned First Team All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin honors after helping the team claim the CCIW Regular Season and Tournament titles on its way to the team's seventh NCAA Tournament appearance. Billy McHugh's relentless defense saw him rack up 22 caused turnovers and 40 ground balls while also scoring 13 points on 10 goals and three assists. He was honored as a United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Blatant Division III All-American Honorable Mention back in May.
