DURHAM, N.C. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team saw six Titans named Intercollegiate Men's Lacrosse Coaches Association All-Region 5, as teams were announced on the organization's Instagram page. The six selections lead the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, and are the second-most in the region, only trailing Denison University's seven honorees.

The accolades come after the Titans wrapped up the 2025 season in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, finishing with a 14-3 overall record. Illinois Wesleyan completed its seventh consecutive undefeated CCIW schedule (4-0) to claim the regular season title, before going on to win its seventh CCIW Tournament Championship with a 16-13 victory over Elmhurst University.

Fifth-year Gage Black (Peoria, Ill.-Dunlap) was IWU's lone first team honoree, as he earned the honor as a midfielder, while junior defender Billy McHugh (Orland Park, Ill.-Mount Carmel) was named to the second team. IWU had four on the honorable mention squad, as sophomore Timothy McHugh (Orland Park, Ill.-Mount Carmel) earned the award at attack, senior Sam Skelton (Portland, Ore.-Franklin) at long stick midfield, junior Karsten Nordlie (Roscoe, Ill.-Hononegah Community) at short stick defensive midfield, and senior Colin Tervo (West Linn, Ore.-West Linn) in goal for the Green and White. Black collects his third straight all-region honor, while Tervo repeats on the honorable mention team. Billy McHugh, Timothy McHugh, Skelton, and Nordlie all earn the honor for the first time in their careers.

Black capped off his illustrious career representing the Green and White with 46 points composed of 37 goals and nine assists this season, while adding 23 ground balls and two caused turnovers. He finished his career as the program's record holder for career man-up goals (36), and sits second in career goals, having scored 184. A crucial piece to the program for the past five seasons, Black has helped the Titans win five of the program's seven CCIW championships and NCAA tournament appearances. Along with his regional honors, he was twice named an All-American Honorable Mention, and was an All-CCIW honoree the past four seasons.

Proving to be a crucial transfer addition for the Titans this season, Billy McHugh played a key role on the defensive end. A United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Blatant Division III All-American Honorable Mention, Billy McHugh tied for second on the team with 22 caused turnovers, while adding 40 ground balls, and 13 points on 10 goals and three assists. Billy McHugh was a First Team All-CCIW honoree in his first season for the Titans.

The Titans' key distributor, Timothy McHugh notched his first all-region honor after a solid sophomore campaign in which he led the team with 76 points off a team-best 49 assists, while scoring 27 goals himself. In addition to his offensive work, he scooped up 18 ground balls to go along with seven caused turnovers, earning him his first All-CCIW honor, landing on the first team.

After leading the team with 29 caused turnovers, Skelton adds an all-region honor to his resume to finish his career for the Titans. Skelton, a captain on the team this season, led the defense en route to his second straight First Team All-CCIW selection. The defender added four goals and two assists this season, and capped off his career ranking fourth in program history in caused turnovers, as he finished with 70.

Following a breakthrough season for the junior, Nordlie collected his first IMLCA All-Region recognition after also securing his first All-CCIW nod, as he was a first team honoree. Nordlie finished second on the squad with 57 ground balls, while his 18 caused turnovers were the fourth-most. Both marks established new career-highs for the junior. Additionally, Nordlie net one goal to go with three assists for the Titans.

Rounding out the all-region honors, Tervo repeated as an honorable mention goalkeeper after another sensational season in between the iron for Illinois Wesleyan. Named the team's Most Valuable Player, the senior goalie played all but one game between the pipes this season and finished with a 13-3 record in goal. Tervo finished his senior season with 219 saves, smashing the program's single-season mark. In each of his final two games donning the Green and White, Tervo racked up 23 saves to set and tie IWU's single-game saves record. Tervo finished out his collegiate career with 549 saves, becoming only the second Titan in school history to surpass the 500 mark, and owns a .532 career save percentage, and notched First Team All-CCIW honors in his final two seasons.
