Men’s Golf Secures GCAA Presidents Special Recognition Award

Earn recognition for fourth straight season

NORMAN, Okla. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's golf team reeled in the Golf Coaches Association of America's Presidents Special Recognition award as part of its 2025-26 Platform Golf Team Academic Awards, the association announced Wednesday, Aug. 5. The Titans were one of 28 NCAA Division III teams to be recognized for having an average team grade point average of 3.5 or above.

The Green and White wrapped up its second consecutive runner-up finish at the 2026 NCAA Division III National Championship and continued the success in the classroom as one of 155 institutions to earn the award throughout all divisions. IWU was the lone College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin member to crack the list.

The Titans placed four student-athletes on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team with sophomore Pablo Castro (Palatine, Ill.-Palatine) and senior Juney Bai (Mokena, Ill.-Lincoln-Way Central) earning CSC Academic All-America honors. Seniors Michael Spitzer (Hinsdale, Ill.-Hinsdale) and Aiden Healy (New Lenox, Ill.-Lincoln-Way West) joined the two on the all-district team. Bai held the highest GPA on the squad as he graduated with a 3.98 and Castro followed with a 3.68. Healy and Spitzer both graduated and rounded out the four with a 3.59 and 3.56, respectively.

The Green and White will begin its 2026-27 campaign Sept. 2 in Bloomington, Ill. at the Heartland 36 invite.
