LEXINGTON, Ky. - For the second straight season the Illinois Wesleyan University women's volleyball team opens its season inside the American Volleyball Coaches Association Preseason Poll top-25 as the Titans were slotted at No. 8, announced by the organization Thursday, Aug. 27. The ranking marks the highest preseason mark for the Titans in program history and the 16th consecutive week the Green and White have cracked the AVCA poll, spanning back to Dec. 10, 2024.
Last season, the Titans won the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin regular season and tournament titles before climbing to a program-best No. 2 in the nation. IWU fell in a five-set thriller in the regional championship.
The reigning national champion UW-Oshkosh took the top spot, collecting every first-place vote, while Trinity (Texas) and Berry rounded out the top-three. East Texas Baptist, Colby, La Verne, and UW-Eau Claire were slotted ahead of IWU, respectively. The Titans were the only CCIW squad to be included in the poll. Carthage, fell into the receiving votes category.
Illinois Wesleyan welcomes Wartburg College and Aurora University to the Shirk Center Tuesday, Sept. 1 for the IWU Tri. The Titans and Knights will kick off the season at 2 p.m. before IWU meets AU at 6 p.m.
