Track and Field Eyes CCIW Championships

Eight Titans lead the league in their respective events

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field trek to Kenosha, Wis. for the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Outdoor Track and Field Championships Friday-Saturday, May 1-2. 

In the pre-championship coaches' poll, the men's squad was picked to finish fourth, garnering 48 points. North Central was picked to win the men's team championship with seven first-place votes and 63 points. On the women's side, Elmhurst was expected to repeat with seven first-place votes and 63 points. The Titan women were selected to earn third-place, finishing with 49 points in the coaches poll.  

In the most recent U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association National Rankings, the women's team moved into the top-25 for the first time during the 2026 outdoor season. In checkpoint five, released by the organization April 28, the Titan women climbed three spots to No. 23. 

Seven Titans across the men's and women's programs sit within the cutline for the national championship as each rank in the top-22 in their respective events, while eight Titans lead the conference. 

Senior Evan Lowder (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) tops the league and ranks No. 20 in Division III in the men's 400m with a season-best time of 47.51. Lowder is seeking his third consecutive outdoor 400m league title. Fellow senior men's javelin thrower Gavin Gonzalez (Mattoon, Ill.-Mattoon) holds the same rankings as Lowder, leading the CCIW and ranking No. 20 nationally with a school record throw of 60.87m at the Greenville Select Meet, April 11. 

Senior Isaac Whitaker (Bloomington, Ill.-Central Catholic) also has a school record to his name in the men's pole vault, clearing a height of 4.80m at the Thursday Night Twilight meet, April 23. 

Five Titan women rank inside the top-20 in Division III in their respective events. Looking to add another All-American honor to her resume, senior Adriana Crabtree (Normal, Ill.-University High) ranks No. 1 in the conference and No. 5 in the country in the 3000m steeplechase. Her time of 10:33.93 nearly broke her own school record at the Bryan Clay Invite, April 16. 

Junior Mackenzie Huber (Lombard, Ill.-Glenbard East) ran the second-best time in program history (2:10.49) at the Bryan Clay Invite to rank No. 11 in Division III. Fellow junior Imani Ogunribido (Hanover Park, Ill.-Lake Park) has the second-farthest jump in the nation and leads the conference with an outdoor-best jump of 12.43m. 

In other field events, senior Taylor French (Romeoville, Ill.-Plainfield East) has the best javelin throw in the league and the 16th-best in the country with a 42.08m throw. Freshman Gwendolyn Boettinger (Palos Park, Ill.-Stagg) has a season-best high jump of 1.66m, ranking No. 15 nationally.
