Track and Field Wraps Up Action in Two Meet Friday

Three Titans record event wins

DES MOINES, Iowa & DECATUR, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University track and field teams wrapped up regular season competition Friday, April 24 at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa and the Big Blue Alumni Invite in Decatur, Ill. Three Titans claimed event wins in IWU's final event before the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Outdoor Championships next weekend. 

At the Drake Relays, junior Imani Ogunridido (Hanover Park, Ill.-Lake Park) competed in the championship division of the women's triple jump against Division I competition. Ogunribido earned a fifth-place finish in the difficult field, posting a mark of 12.24m. 

Sophomore Kelsey Moore (Arcola, Ill.-Arcola) claimed her second event win in the women's 100m hurdles in as many days after a personal-best time at the Thursday Night Twilight, April 23. Moore clocked a 15.84 at the Big Blue Alumni Invite Friday night to take medalist honors. In the women's 100m dash, junior Katarina Petrovic (Willowbrook, Ill.-Hinsdale South) earned a runner-up finish with a time of 13.36.

Senior Evan Lowder (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) ran a season-best time in the men's 200m to take the win. Lowder crossed the finish line in 21.63. 

Freshman Emma Frazier (Mahomet, Ill.-Mahomet Seymour) ran the best time of her young career in the women's 1500m to earn an event win as she posted a time of 5:10.05. Fellow freshman Victoria Lopez (Berwyn, Ill.-Morton West) earned a runner-up finish in the same event, also posting a personal-best time of 5:16.11.

Illinois Wesleyan heads to the CCIW Outdoor Championships Friday-Saturday, May 1-2 in Kenosha, Wis. hosted by Carthage College. Links to follow the action can be found on iwusports.com.
