Three-Meet Weekend on Deck for Track and Field

Titans begin final preparations for conference meet

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - With the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championships on the horizon, the Illinois Wesleyan University track and field teams have one weekend remaining of regular season competition. The Titans are scheduled to travel across the midwest this weekend for the Thursday Twilight Special at Monmouth College and the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa Thursday, April 23, while Millikin's Friday Night Invite in Decatur, Ill. will be contested Friday, April 24.

Senior Evan Lowder (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) ran a season-best time in the 400m at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif. to lead the conference. Lowder's time of 47.51 also sits 16th in Division III. Junior Mackenzie Huber (Lombard, Ill.-Glenbard East) also ranks first in the conference in the 800m and inside the top-10 in Division III with a season-best, and the second-best time in program history, of 2:10.49 at the Bryan Clay Invitational. 

Senior Adriana Crabtree (Normal, Ill.-University High) posted a season-best time of 10:33.93 in the women's 3000m steeplechase at the same event in California, just half a second behind her own program record. Her time currently sits fourth in Division III this season. 

In field events, several Titans hold the top spot in the league. Senior Isaac Whitaker (Bloomington, Ill.-Central Catholic) cleared a season-best height of 4.70m in the men's pole vault at the Augustana Meet of Champions to lead the conference. Junior Imani Ogunribido (Hanover Park, Ill.-Lake Park) jumped 12.43m in the triple jump at the Redbird Challenge March 27, which ranks second in Division III and first in the CCIW. 

Seniors Gavin Gonzalez (Mattoon, Ill.-Mattoon) and Taylor French (Romeoville, Ill.-Plainfield East) own the conference in the men's and women's javelin. Gonzalez holds the program record and sits in the top-15 of Division III with a throw of 60.87m at the Greenville Select Meet. French threw a career-best 41.33m, also at the Greenville Select Meet, which ranks in the top-20 in Division III. 

Senior Abby Quinn (Chicago, Ill.-Marist), junior Carson Green (Centralia, Ill.-Centralia)sophomore Jacob Pinkston (Tinley Park, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East), and freshmen Mallory Short (Lincoln, Ill-Lincoln) and Corrina Fassino (Peoria, Ill.-Peoria Notre Dame) all rank in the top-three in the conference in their respective events.
