Track and Field Travels to California & Rock Island

Seven Titans lead the CCIW in their respective events

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University track and field teams take a plane ride to California for the Bryan Clay Invitational, hosted by Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, Calif. Thursday-Saturday, April 16-18. The Titans are scheduled to additionally compete in the Augustana Meet of Champions in Rock Island, Ill. Friday-Saturday, April 17-18. 

Just a few weeks out from the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Outdoor Championships, seven Titans lead the conference in their respective events. Sophomore Jacob Pinkston (Tinley Park, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East) leads the way in the men's 800m with a best time this season of 1:56.03. Junior Mackenzie Huber (Lombard, Ill.-Glenbard East) tops the women's edition of the event with an outdoor best time of 2:13.92. 

The remainder of the league leaders are in field events. Senior Isaac Whitaker (Bloomington, Ill.-Central Catholic) has the top men's pole vault mark this season after clearing a height of 4.55m at the Greenville Select Meet April 11. 

In jumps, juniors Carson Green (Centralia, Ill.-Centralia) and Imani Ogunribido (Hanover Park, Ill.-Lake Park) top the charts in the men's long jump and women's triple jump, respectively. Following Green's career-best mark of 6.90m at the Greenville Select Meet April 11, he moved up to ninth on the program's all-time top 10 list. In her national championship defense, Ogunribido has a season best jump of 12.43m which is also the top leap in Division III. 

Seniors Gavin Gonzalez (Mattoon, Ill.-Mattoon) and Taylor French (Romeoville, Ill.-Plainfield East) lead the CCIW and currently sit top-15 in Division III in the men's and women's javelin throw. Gonzalez most recently broke a 31-year old program record at the Greenville Select Meet April 11 with a throw of 60.87m. French sits sixth on the program's all-time top 10 list with a season-best throw of 41.33m. 

Indoor U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Americans seniors Adriana Crabtree (Normal, Ill.-University High), Evan Lowder (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) and Huber are scheduled to compete at the Bryan Clay Invitational Thursday-Saturday April 16-18.
