Gonzalez Claims School Record as Track and Field Finds Success at Greenville Select

Thirty-seven Titans set personal-best times

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University track and field teams picked up four individual wins, all in field events, Saturday, April 11 at the Greenville Select. In a successful day for IWU, 37 Titans set career-bests in their respective events.

Senior Gavin Gonzalez (Mattoon, Ill.-Mattoon) highlighted the day for the Titans, breaking a 31-year old school record in the men's javelin. Gonzalez threw for 60.87m, which broke John Munch's school record of 60.30m set in 1995.

The Titans swept through the men's and women's javelin, as senior Taylor French (Romeoville, Ill.-Plainfield East) posted a career-best 41.33m in the event to take home the win. French's mark moves her to sixth on the program's all-time top-10 list in her first season of competition.

Junior Imani Ogunribido (Hanover Park, Ill.-Lake Park), unsurprisingly, won the women's triple jump event with a mark of 11.95m. Freshman teammate Tori Brown (Glasford, Ill.-Illini Bluffs) claimed second in the event with a leap of 11.09m.

Additionally in jumps, junior Carson Green (Centralia, Ill.-Centralia) dialed up a new career-best in the men's long jump to claim first-place. Green's jump of 6.90m moves him to ninth on the program's all-time top-10.

Senior Adriana Crabtree (Normal, Ill.-University High) claimed silver in the women's 1500m with a time of 4:44.13.

Four Titans earned third-place in their respective events, starting with sophomore Kelsey Moore (Arcola, Ill.-Arcola) in the 100m hurdles. Moore crossed the finish line in 16.01. In the men's edition of the event, senior Bobby Mogged (Piper City, Ill.-Tri-Point) ran a personal-best time of 15.32.

Freshmen Corrina Fassino (Peoria, Ill.-Peoria Notre Dame) and Cassidy Madden (Yorkville, Ill.-Yorkville) earned third-place in the 400m hurdles and women's high jump, respectively. Fassino turned in a career-best time of 1:06.68 to place the first-year in the program's all-time top-10. Madden cleared a bar of 1.48m to take home third-place in the high jump.

Several Titans head to California Thursday-Friday, April 16-17, for the Bryan Clay Invitational, while the rest of the IWU teams will stay closer to home for the Augustana Meet of Champions in Rock Island, Ill. Saturday, April 18.
