Track and Field Earns five Top Five Finishes In Two-Meet Weekend

Four Titans turned in personal-best efforts

AZUSA, Calif. & ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University track and field teams wrapped up a two-meet weekend in Azusa, Calif. at the Bryan Clay Invitational, and in Rock Island, Ill. at the Augustana Meet of Champions. 

Representing the Titans in California, senior Evan Lowder (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) had the best time amongst all Division III runners in the men's 400m dash, clocking a 47.51 to finish 17th.

At Augustana, sophomore Jacob Pinkston (Tinley Park, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East) took home first in the men's 800m with a time of 1:56.84. Freshman Victoria Lopez (Berwyn, Ill.-Morton West) ran the women's 5000m in 19:55.60, good for fifth place. Joining Lopez with a fifth-place finish was freshman Cameron Rask (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community), who finished fifth in the men's 100 meter with a time of 10.87 in the finals. 

In the field events, freshman Gwendolyn Boettinger (Hickory Hills, Ill.-Stagg) was fifth in the women's high jump after jumping 1.53m. In the men's pole vault, senior Isaac Whitaker (Bloomington, Ill.-Central Catholic) cleared 4.70m to finish fourth. 

The Titans are back in action Thursday, April 23, with a three-meet weekend. IWU will head to Monmouth Thursday, April 23, Des Moines, Iowa, for the prestigious Drake Relays Thursday-Saturday, April 23-25, and down the road to Decatur, Ill. for the Millikin Friday Night Invite Friday, April 24.
