Men’s Golf Heads to Final Regular Season Event

Ten Titans will tee it up in Decatur, Ill.

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The No. 9 Illinois Wesleyan University men's golf team embarks on its final regular season tournament trip to Decatur, Ill. for the Butts Classic hosted by Millikin University Monday-Tuesday, April 20-21. Thirty-six holes will be contested Monday at the 6,589-yard, par-72 Country Club of Decatur, with the final 18 holes to follow Tuesday.

Senior Michael Spitzer (Hinsdale, Ill.-Hinsdale Central) most recently won the third tournament title of his career at the Cochran Collegiate in Cordova, Tenn. April, 13-14. Spitzer finished with an even-par total of 216 at the 54-hole tournament, edging sophomore teammate Pablo Castro (Palatine, Ill.-Palatine) who finished in second-place with a two-over score of 218. The duo led IWU to its third team championship of the season.

IWU will have two teams in the 12-team field that includes Millikin, North Central, Lake Forest, Heartland, UW-Stevens Point, Hope, Wheaton, Spalding, Illinois College, Elmhurst, and Carthage.

The 'A' squad will consist of Spitzer, Castro, seniors Aidan Healy (New Lenox, Ill.-Lincoln-Way West) and Juney Bai (Mokena, Ill.-Lincoln-Way Central), and freshman Ryan Andrews (Libertyville, Ill.-Libertyville). Senior Myles Lahart (Park Ridge, Ill.-Maine South), sophomore Lane Ludwig (Effingham, Ill.-St. Anthony), and freshmen Kasey May (Palatine, Ill.-Palatine), Kevin Schuh (Glenview, Ill.-Glenbrook South), and freshman Alex Rollman (Cincinnati, Ohio-Turpin) will make up the Titan 'B' squad.

IWU will tee off Monday morning for a 36-hole adventure at the Country Club of Decatur. Live scoring will be provided and can be found here.
