Men’s Golf Travels to Tennessee For Cochran Collegiate

Titans will take one team and one individual

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The No. 8 Illinois Wesleyan University men's golf team heads south for the Cochran Collegiate, hosted by Rhodes College, Monday-Tuesday, April 13-14. The 54-hole tournament will kick off at the 7,097-yard, par-71 Colonial Country Club in Cordova, Tenn. with 36 holes Monday, April 13.

The Titans are fresh off of a successful weekend at home, topping the 41-team field at the IWU Invite hosted at Ironwood Golf Course and Weibring Golf Course last weekend April 3-4. Sophomore Pablo Castro (Palatine, Ill.-Palatine) picked up his first career win, carding a three-under total for the 36-hole tournament and tying for medalist honors. 

Castro holds a 71.8 stroke average through 18 rounds this season, which currently ranks him second on the program's  single season stroke average list. Seniors Michael Spitzer (Hinsdale, Ill.-Hinsdale Central) and Juney Bai (Mokena, Ill.-Lincoln-Way Central) have taken the same amount of swings this season through 15 rounds, good for a 72.7 stroke average this season. 

The nine team field this weekend consists of Belhaven, Centre, Christian Brothers, Lyon, Millikin, Millsaps, Mississippi-Women, and host Rhodes.

Castro, Spitzer, Bai, senior Aidan Healy (New Lenox, Ill.-Lincoln-Way West), and freshman Ryan Andrews (Libertyville, Ill.-Libertyville) will make up the Titan team this week. Freshman Kevin Schuh (Glenview, Ill.-Glenbrook South) will compete as an individual. 

36 holes will begin Monday, April 13 followed by 18 holes on Tuesday, April 14. Live scoring will be available through Clippd and can be found here.
