Castro Reels in Back-to-Back CCIW Golfer of the Week Honors

Award follows first career win at IWU Invite

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's golf team collected its sixth consecutive College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Golfer of the Week honor, as sophomore Pablo Castro (Palatine, Ill.-Palatine) reeled in his third career weekly award, announced by the league office Wednesday, April 8.

In his first career win at the IWU Invite Friday-Saturday, April 3-4, Castro topped a 255-player field and led the Titans to their second win of the season. Battling extremely wet conditions, Castro posted a four-under 68 on day one at Ironwood Golf Course. In round two at Weibring Golf Course, facing even tougher conditions, Castro recorded a one-over 72 to finish tied for medalist honors at three-under par (140) for the tournament. Castro led Illinois Wesleyan to a 14-stroke victory over Nebraska Wesleyan.

Illinois Wesleyan returns to action at the Cochran Collegiate at Colonial Country Club in Memphis, Tenn. Monday-Tuesday, April 13-14.
