Track and Field Travels to Illinois College and Wabash

Three Titans rank in the top-20 in Division III

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University track and field teams prepare for a two-meet weekend Thursday-Saturday, April 2-4, starting with the Illinois College Thursday Throwdown, April 2. From there, the Titans will make their way to Crawfordsville, Ind. for the Huntsman Family Invitational Friday-Saturday, April 3-4, hosted by Wabash College. 

Junior Imani Ogunribido (Hanover Park, Ill.-Lake Park) continues to lead the Titans through two outdoor weekends of competition. Ogunribido was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin's Field Athlete of the Week Wednesday, April 1 for the sixth time in her career following a win in the women's triple jump at the Redbird Challenge Saturday, March 28. Ogunribido jumped a winning mark of 12.43m to best the field and top the Division III ranks. 

Additionally, freshman Tori Brown (Glasford, Ill.-Illini Bluffs) ranks in the top-20 in Division III in the triple jump. Brown jumped 11.22m at the Redbird Challenge March 28 good for the 16th-longest leap in Division III thus far. 

Junior Mackenzie Huber (Lombard, Ill.-Glenbard East) also sits in the top-20 in Division III following her performance in the 800m at the WashU Distance Carnival March 26. Huber ran an outdoor best time of 2:13.92, which is the 18th-best mark in the country.

An early look at the CCIW rankings shows 11 Titans topping their respective events. Huber, Ogunribido, seniors Abby Quinn (Chicago, Ill.-Marist) and Gavin Gonzalez, juniors Noah Sadowski (Burr Ridge, Ill.-Hinsdale South), Olivia Skibinski (Peoria, Ill.-Richwoods), and Cole Marshall (Mahomet, Ill.-Mahomet-Seymour), sophomores Alex Maas (Heyworth, Ill.-Heyworth) and Jacob Pinkston (Tinley Park, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East), and freshmen Mallory Short (Lincoln, Ill.-Lincoln) and Corrina Fassino (Peoria, Ill.-Peoria Notre Dame) all currently lead the league.
