Women’s Golf Jets Off to Arizona for SMSU Classic

Titans head west for spring break trip

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's golf team travels to Arizona once again for the SMSU Classic, hosted by Southwest Minnesota State University, Monday-Tuesday, March 16-17. The Titans are set to tee off at the par-72, 5,801-yard Wigwam Resort-Blue golf course in Litchfield Park, Ariz.

In their inaugural tournament of the spring campaign, the Titans finished in sixth-place at the Westbrook Invitational Saturday-Sunday March 7-8. Sophomore Gigi Zera (Glenview, Ill.-Loyola Academy) recorded her fourth top-10 placement of the 2025-26 season, earning a tie for tenth-place with scores of five-over 76 and one-over 72.

The Titans will be one of ten teams in the primarily Division II field. The Green and White will be joined by SMSU, Westmont, Southwestern Oklahoma, UW-La Crosse, Minnesota State, Fort Hays State, Nebraska-Kearney, Black Hills State, and the University of Mary.

Competing for the Green and White will be Zera, juniors Nora Cerroni (Waukesha, Wis.-Waukesha North) and Emily Gastrau (Wauwatosa, Wis.-Wauwatosa East), sophomore Grace Fagan (Kirkwood, Mo.-Visitation Academy) and freshman Julia Henry (Homewood, Ill.-Homewood-Flossmoor). Senior Brooke Erhard (Champaign, Ill.-St. Thomas More) will compete as an individual.
