Women’s Golf Improves in Round Two of Westbrook Invitational

Zera records fourth top-10 finish of the season

PEORIA, Ariz. - The No. 22 Illinois Wesleyan University women's golf team moved up one spot following round two of the Westbrook Invitational, Sunday, March 8 at the par-71, 5810-yard Westbrook Village Golf Course in Peoria, Ariz. The Titans climbed into sixth-place following a round two score, 299, good for a 36-hole total of 616.

Sophomore Gigi Zera (Glenview, Ill.-Loyola Academy) led IWU with a top-10 finish and two-day total of 148, marking her fourth of the season. Zera recorded four birdies en route to a one-over 72 in round two, which tied her career-low round relative to par.

Sophomore Grace Fagan (Kirkwood, Mo.-Visitation Academy) and freshman Julia Henry (Homewood, Ill.-Homewood-Flossmoor) each improved from round one, carding scores of four-over, 75. Henry's round included three consecutive birdies on the front nine.

No. 16 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps won the team title by 21 strokes, carding a two-day score, 571. Jessie Kong of CMS beat out her Athena teammates, who occupied four of the top-five individual places, with an even-par two-day total, 142.

The Titans return to Arizona next week, Monday-Tuesday, March 16-17 for the SMSU Classic, hosted by Division II Southwest Minnesota State University. IWU will tee it up in Litchfield Park, Ariz. at Wigwam Resort.
