Track and Field Prepped for Keck Select

Two-day event starts Friday, Feb. 6

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field teams return home as hosts of the IWU Multi and Keck Select Friday-Saturday, Feb. 6-7. 
The Titans are one of 14 teams scheduled to participate in the highly competitive event. 

According to the latest U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association rankings, released Tuesday, Feb. 3, two of the top-10 nationally ranked women's squads will be in attendance at the Keck Select in No. 2 WashU and College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin foe, ninth-ranked Elmhurst. The Titan women's team ranks No. 22 in the nation, up one spot from the previous rankings. 

On the men's side, WashU is the lone top-10 team in the field at No. 8. Also competing in the meet on both sides will be Aurora, Benedictine, Coe, DePauw, Dominican, Eureka, Illinois Tech, Millikin, Monmouth, North Central, North Park, and Rose-Hulman. 

Fresh off the most successful season in IWU cross country history, senior Adriana Crabtree (Normal, Ill.-University High) broke a program record on the track last weekend. Crabtree beat out the program's indoor best in the mile at the PNC Lenny Lyles Open Saturday, Jan. 31. The reigning CCIW Track Athlete of the Week, Crabtree ran a time of 4:54.60 which broke a 10-year-old program record. 

With the CCIW Championships on the horizon, several Titans top the leagues' rankings in their respective events. Crabtree ranks first in the conference in the mile, while junior Mackenzie Huber (Lombard, Ill.-Glenbard East) tops the league in the 800m, running a 2:15.41, also at the PNC Lenny Lyles Open. 

Freshman Gwendolyn Boettinger (Hickory Hills, Ill.-Stagg) owns the top height in the high jump in the CCIW, clearing 1.65m. Junior Imani Ogunribido (Hanover Park, Ill.-Lake Park) owns the No. 1 spot in the conference and in Division III in the triple jump, leaping an indoor program record 12.53m on Dec. 5 at the Titan First Chance meet. 

On the men's side, the Titans 4x400m relay squad of freshman Dylan Hodges (Sycamore, Ill.-Sycamore), sophomore Alex Maas (Heyworth, Ill.-Heyworth), and juniors Noah Sadowski (Burr Ridge, Ill.-Hinsdale South) and junior Carson Green (Centralia, Ill.-Centralia) ranks first in the league, crossing the line in 3:25.86.

The IWU multi will begin Friday, Feb. 6 at 4:15 p.m. with the Heptathlon 60m dash. A live stream to Friday's events can be found here.
