Three Titans Claim Victories at Jason Dennis Memorial

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field teams earned three individual victories at the Jason Dennis Memorial meet Friday night, Jan. 30 inside the Shirk Center. The Titans set 41 personal-bests at both the Jason Dennis Memorial and the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational in Louisville, Ky. 

Sophomore Nyamedze Maison (Groveland, Ill.-Morton) headlined the Jason Dennis Memorial meet, running to a victory in the men's 60m via a personal-best time of 7.00. Maison's time now places him fifth on the program's all-time top-10 list. Junior Jaden Preston (Carol Stream, Ill.-West Chicago) notched a third-place finish in the event, behind a career-best time of 7.16.

Freshman Mallory Short (Lincoln, Ill.-Lincoln) also claimed a victory with a personal-best time in the women's 200m, crossing the line in 26.18. Sophomore Caroline Hill (Bement, Ill.-Bement) took third in the event with a time of 26.74. Junior Noah Sadowski (Burr Ridge, Ill.-Hinsdale South) took third in the men's 200m race, finishing in 23.11. 

Senior Zack Daniel (Lake Barrington, Ill.-Barrington) placed runner-up in the men's mile race, crossing the finish line in 4:24.44. Junior Skyler Tomecki (Downers Grove, Ill.-Downers Grove South) ran a career-best in the women's mile, finishing in team-best third place with a time of 5:40.45.

In field events, senior Isaac Whitaker (Bloomington, Ill.-Central Catholic) took home the title in the men's pole vault, clearing a height of 4.50m. In the women's pole vault, sophomore Sophia Baczak (Aurora, Ill.-Oswego East) earned third with a height of 2.80m. 

In the men's high jump, senior Matt Lindberg (Springfield, Ill.-Glenwood) earned runner-up honors with his jump over 1.97m. Freshman Cassidy Madden (Yorkville, Ill.-Yorkville) also claimed a runner-up finish in the women's high jump as she leaped over the 1.52m mark. 

In relay action, the foursome of Sadowski, freshman Darien Weaver (Chicago, Ill.-Gwendolyn Brooks), sophomore Alex Maas (Heyworth, Ill.-Heyworth), and senior Joel Weber (Roanoke, Ill.-Roanoke-Benson) took second place in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:30.49.

At the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational in Louisville, Ky. earlier in the day, junior Mackenzie Huber (Lombard, Ill.-Glanbard East) impressed in her first 800m race of the season, running an indoor personal-best time 2:15.41, which currently ranks sixth in Division III. Huber now sits fifth on the IWU all-time indoor top-10 list.
