Women’s Wrestling Readies for NCAA Regional

IWU to send seven wrestlers to inaugural event

BLOOMINGTON, Ill.- The Illinois Wesleyan University women's wrestling team heads to Tiffin, Ohio for the NCAA Regionals, Friday, Feb. 20 and Saturday, Feb. 21 at Tiffin University. The top three wrestlers in each weight class advance to the inaugural NCAA Women's Wrestling Championships, March 6. 

The Titans most recently competed at the QC D3 National Invitational where, at 207 pounds, sophomore Alivia Davey (Ripon, Wis.-Berlin) finished in fourth place. Freshman Angel Hill (San Diego, Calif.-Mira Mesa) defeated Manchester's Isabel Anaya via a 14-6 decision to earn fifth place. 

In Ohio, the Titans will be joined by some of the country's top competition that includes six ranked teams. For Illinois Wesleyan, Davey enters the postseason with an 18-12 record and will be the Titans' representative at 207 pounds. Davey is joined by freshman Kennedy Murray (Evanston, Ill.-Evanston) who went 23-11 in the regular season including a 9-5 record since switching to 160 pounds in the middle of January. Freshman all-conference selectee Jillian Giller (Wilmette, Ill.-New Trier) is set to wrestle at 145 pounds. 180-pound sophomore Sifa Feruzi (Denver, Colo.-Macomb) along with freshmen Simone Dyer (Chicago, Ill.-Westinghouse), Alila Beck (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington), and Leslie Guzman (Fort Worth, Texas.-South Hills) round out the IWU lineup.
