ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's wrestling team concluded day one action at the QC D3 Invite hosted by Augustana College. Sunday's slate begins at 10 a.m.
After dropping her first match, freshman Kennedy Murray (Evanston, Ill.-Evanston) defeated Eureka's Jaylah Dalton for the second time in the past week on a 10-0 technical fall to advance to the second round of the consolation bracket at 160 pounds. Murray followed by needing only 2:15 to pin Schreiner's Alexis Bailey. Murray will resume action tomorrow in the third round of the consolation bracket.
Sophomore Alivia Davey (Ripon, Wis.-Berlin) defeated Augustana's Angie Guy on a 12-4 decision to advance to the quarterfinals at 207 pounds. Fellow 207-pounder, freshman
Angel Hill (San Diego, Calif.-Mira Mesa) pinned Faith Macharia of Schreiner in 5:36 to advance to the semifinals where she will take on North Central's Dasia Yearby. Davey will take on Aurora's Hannah McDuffie in the second round of the consolation bracket.
Freshmen Tyzoria Payne (Cypress, Texas.-Cypress Springs) and
Leslie Guzman (Fort Worth Texas.-South Hills) also collected wins on the day at 145 and 103 pounds respectively.Â
