CORALVILLE, Iowa.- Illinois Wesleyan University women's wrestling sophomore Alivia Davey (Ripon, Wis.-Berlin) earned the program's first-ever win at the National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championships with a 6-0 decision over West Liberty's Jamie Shapton before bowing out of the tournament in the preliminary round of the 207-pound bracket.

In the first period, Davey earned one point on passivity violations. She extended her lead in the second period on a second passivity point coupled with two two-point takedowns, which put her ahead 6-0 with 39 seconds left.

Davey dropped her next two bouts on decisions,  finishing in the top-16 in the national tournament that includes all NCAA divisions. This wraps up a historic season for the sophomore and for IWU women's wrestling which in its first full season of competition saw three all-conference selectees and the program's first-ever national qualifier. The Titans are expected to return their full roster next fall.
