BLOOMINGTON, Ill.- The Illinois Wesleyan University men's wrestling team heads north of the border to Kenosha, Wis. for the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championships hosted by Carthage College, Saturday, Feb. 14. Action from Tarble Arena is scheduled for 2 p.m.
The Titans are coming off of a 33-20 dual meet win over Eureka College where they earned three pins. Freshman Tyson Zvonar (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East) booked an early pin over Tristan Mosack at 2:32 for his fifth fall of the year. Sophomore
Lucas Blanton (Dixon, Ill.-Amboy) secured a takedown with 1:13 remaining in the first period en-route to a pin at the 4:54 mark. Freshman
Trey Dunning (Mishawaka, Ind.-Mishawaka) went ahead 3-0 at the end of the first and never looked back, finishing the Titans' scoring with a pin (4:31).
Last season at the CCIW Championship, then-senior Bobby Conroy finished in fourth place at 184 pounds. Then-sophomore
Austin Johnston (Normal, Ill.-Normal West) closed in fifth place at 141 pounds.
This season, Johnston leads the way for the Titans at 141 pounds with a 15-3 record. Zvonar at 133 pounds sits at 18-7, while 125-pounder Brady Mouser (Bloomington, Ill.-Tri-Valley) concluded his regular season with a 9-7 campaign.
