Women’s Wrestling Readies for Cliff Keen-Mike Duroe Invitational

Eleven Titans are set to compete

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's wrestling team treks to Mt. Vernon Iowa for the Cliff Keen-Mike Duroe Invitational, Saturday, Jan. 17. Action from Cornell College is scheduled for 9 a.m.

This year's field includes some of the top teams in the country including top ranked Iowa, No. 10 Northern Michigan, No. 13 Wartburg, and 16th ranked Simpson along with CCIW foe, Augustana College.

Last weekend at the NWCA National Duals, the Titans finished 15th amongst some of the top teams in the country. After dropping both bouts on day one, IWU fell to Marymount University 24-18 and defeated McMurry University 25-20. Freshmen Kennedy Murray (Evanston, Ill.-Evanston) and Leslie Guzman (Fort Worth, Texas.-South Hills) led the way for Illinois Wesleyan with three wins at the event. Murray leads all Titans with a 14-6 record so far this season.

Last season in Mt. Vernon, then-freshman Sifa Feruzi (Denver, Colo.-Macomb) went 1-2. She defeated Lakeland's Meara Hayes before dropping her next two bouts.
