Men’s 4x400m Breaks Own School Record at Midwest Twilight Final Qualifier

Ogunribido wins women’s triple jump event

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – In a last-ditch effort to secure qualifying marks to next week's NCAA Division III Track and Field Outdoor Championships, the Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field teams sent a small squad to Augustana College's Midwest Twilight Final Qualifier Wednesday, May 14. The men's 4-by-400-meter relay broke its own school record in the event with a time of 3:12.92.

The relay team of sophomores Carson Green (Centralia, Ill.-Centralia) and Reece Dusek (Peoria, Ill.-Dunlap), junior Evan Lowder (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) and senior Alex Harvey (Galesburg, Ill.-Galesburg) became the only Titan relay to break 3:13.00 in the 4-by-400m in IWU history. Racing in a loaded field that saw nine relays break into the top-25 in Division III this season, the IWU squad finished 12th overall and ranks 24th in the nation.

Sophomore Imani Ogunribido (Hanover Park, Ill.-Lake Park) turned in a mark just shy of her career-best, with a 12.55m (41'2.25") leap in the triple jump to win the event at Augustana. Ogunribido's career mark of 12.57m already sits fourth nationally.

Senior Lauren Huber (Lombard, Ill.-Glenbard East) posted personal-best efforts in the women's 100m hurdles of 16.07 seconds to place 17th overall and in the long jump where she turned in a 5.04m (16'6.50") leap. Huber's long jump mark surpasses her previous best mark by nearly a foot and earned her a 13th-place finish. Huber went on to clear 1.54m (5'0.50") in the women's high jump for 10th-place.

Junior Adriana Crabtree (Normal, Ill.-University High) turned in a 4:37.19 time in the 1500m race, finishing sixth in the 38-person field.

In the men's 800m race, senior Ernie Waterson (Bloomington, Ill.-Cornerstone Christian Academy) posted a fourth-place finish in a time of 1:51.70 while freshman Nick Walker (Metamora, Ill.-Metamora) cleared 1.92m (6'3.50") for ninth-place in the men's high jump.

The official list of the NCAA Division III Track and Field Outdoor Championships final qualifiers is set to be revealed Friday, May 16. The national meet will run Thursday through Saturday, May 22-24 and will be hosted at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
