Rager and Moore Collect Wins at IC Thursday Throwdown

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University track and field teams took a short trip to Jacksonville, Ill. Thursday, April 2 for the Illinois College Thursday Throwdown as two Titans garnered event wins. 


Freshman Ashlyn Rager (Carmi, Ill.-Carmi-White County) picked up her first career event win in the women's discus throw, chucking a career-best 36.62m on her second-to-last throw. Rager defeated the IC freshman Ellie Bartling by just four inches. 

Sophomore Kelsey Moore (Arcola, Ill.-Arcola) also gathered a win in the women's 400m hurdles, running a time of 1:12.45 in the event. 

Senior Taylor French (Romeoville, Ill.-Plainfield East) traded in her volleyball shoes for a javelin this spring, finishing second in Thursday's competition. French nearly matched her career-best with a throw of 38.07m to take runner-up honors in the women's javelin.  

Additionally in throws, sophomore Daniel Nash (Lincoln, Ill.-Lincoln) threw a career-best 14.12m in the men's shot put, earning him fifth-place in the event. 

Senior Bobby Mogged (Piper City, Ill.-Tri-Point) turned in a top-five finish in the men's 110m hurdles, turning in a time of 15.77 which was good for a fourth-place finish. In the women's edition of the short sprint hurdles, Moore continued her successful afternoon by finishing fourth with a time of 16.04. Freshman Jinna Hiser (Mt. Zion, Ill.-Mt. Zion) was right behind her teammate, crossing the finish line in 17.27 good for fifth-place.
