Men’s Golf to Host 228-Player IWU Invite

Largest golf tournament across Division III set for April 4-5

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - With a field of 39 teams and 34 individuals, the fourth-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University men's golf team will host the largest collegiate golf tournament across the country this Friday-Saturday, April 4-5, as 228 players converge in Bloomington-Normal for the IWU Invite. The two-day, 36-hole tournament will played at Ironwood Golf Course as well as Weibring Golf Course.

Illinois Wesleyan, UW-Eau Claire, Carleton, Bethel, Gustavus, St. John's, Nebraska Wesleyan, Carthage, Wheaton, Trine, Calvin, Hope, DePauw, and Concordia Moorhead will play at Ironwood on Friday. Playing at Weibring on Friday will be Rose Hulman, UW-Stout, Millikin, Augustana, Heartland CC, St. Norbert, Lake Forest, North Central, Knox, Wabash, North Park, Central, Simpson, Carroll, Edgewood, Illinois College, and St. Francis. The teams will then flip for Saturday's final round.

The Titans will have three teams in the field alongside two individuals. Senior Griffin Pohl (Western Springs, Ill.-Lyons Township), juniors Michael Spitzer (Hinsdale, Ill.-Hinsdale), Juney Bai (Mokena, Ill.-Lincoln-Way Central), and Aidan Healy (New Lenox, Ill.-Lincoln-Way West) and freshman Pablo Castro (Palatine, Ill.-Palatine) will team up as IWU's 'A' team. The 'B' team will consist of seniors Quinn Clifford (Chicago, Ill.-Brother Rice), Tyler Irwin (Arlington Heights, Ill.-Hersey), Quinn Henry (Homewood, Ill.-Homewood-Flossmoor), and Raj Sethi (Chandler, Ariz.-Arizona College Prep) as well as junior Myles Lahart (Park Ridge, Ill.-Maine South). Juniors Nate Bibbey (Oak Park, Ill.-Oak Park River Forest) and Griffin Hrabak (Medina, Ohio-Highland), and freshmen Michael O'Keefe (Chicago, Ill.-Mount Carmel), Lane Ludwig (Effingham, Ill.-St. Anthony), and Joey Sluzas (Lockport, Ill.-Lockport) will play as the 'C' team. Junior Josh Pehl (Sugar Grove, Ill.-Kaneland) and Tug Schwab (Litchfield, Ill.-Litchfield) round out the Titans in the tournament as the duo will play as individuals. 

First round action is scheduled for Friday, April 4. A 12 p.m. shotgun start at Weibring will kick off the tournament, while those playing the opening round at Ironwood will get underway at 12:30 p.m. Saturday's rounds are set for a 9 a.m. start at Weibring and a 9:30 a.m. shotgun at Ironwood.
