Castro leads by seven individually

ROCKFORD, Ill. - On a brisk day at the par-72, 7039-yard Aldeen Golf Course, the No. 9 Illinois Wesleyan University men's golf team expanded its lead at the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championship Thursday, April 30. The Titans posted a second round score of four-over 292 and lead the field by 32 strokes.

Sophomore Pablo Castro (Palatine, Ill.-Palatine) continues to lead the individual leaderboard, extending his advantage to seven strokes. Castro is six-under through 36-holes following a second round one-under, 71. The sophomore posted three birdies on the front nine before finishing with an even-par back-nine.

Senior Michael Spitzer (Hinsdale, Ill.-Hinsdale Central) and freshman Ryan Andrews (Libertyville, Ill.-Libertyville) are the closest chasers to Castro. Andrews is in solo second-place, sitting one-over par through two rounds. Spitzer is in third-place at two-over par. Senior Juney Bai (Mokena, Ill.-Lincoln-Way Central) also ranks within the top-five, sitting in a tie for fifth-place following a two-round total of four-over 148.

Carthage climbed the leaderboard four spots into a tie for second-place, carding a second-round score of 294. CC and Millikin are behind the Titans by 32 strokes.

The Titans look to claim their 14th straight CCIW title tomorrow, May 1. Senior Aidan Healy (New Lenox, Ill.-Lincoln-Way West) will lead off for IWU at 10:30 a.m. Live stats can be followed here.
