TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – At the end of day two at the Gibson Invitational hosted by Indiana State University, the Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field team saw senior Lauren Huber (Lombard, Ill.-Glenbard East) cap off an incredible heptathlon competition, as she finished fifth in the Division I loaded event and moved up to No. 2 in school history.

Huber's 4821 points are the second-highest point total in the heptathlon at IWU all-time, and are 244 points off the school record held by Allie Boudreau since 2015 (5065), and ranks fourth across Division III this season. After a strong first day of heptathlon competition, Huber entered day two sitting seventh in the 30-person field. The senior turned in a 4.59m (15'00.75") effort in the long jump to start the day, which ultimately resulted in her dropping four positions in overall standings.

Huber came back to produce the top marks in the final two events–the javelin and 800m to move back up in the overall standings into fifth. The senior belted out a 38.88m (127'6"), winning the event with a four-foot cushion before dominating the field in the 800m, clocking a 2:17.41-second effort, and finishing six seconds ahead of the next closest competitor. Overall, Huber turned in personal-bests in six of the seven heptathlon events, and moved into the program's top-10 lists in the high jump (third), shot put (eighth), javelin (eighth), and the heptathlon (second).

Also competing for the Green and White on Friday were freshman Jayden Mangruem (Normal, Ill.-Normal West), junior Ashtin Elder (Chenoa, Ill.-Prairie Central), and senior Caitlin McCane (Bloomington, Ill.-Tri Valley) in the open javelin events. On the men's side, Elder turned in a 39.46m (129'5") throw to finish 13th overall while Mangruem's 37.97m (124'7") toss was good for 15th. McCane closed out the day for the Titans with a 11th-place finish in the women's javelin on a 34.66m (113'8") throw.

Illinois Wesleyan will be back in Terre Haute, Ind. for the third and final day of the Gibson Invitational, Saturday, April 19. Events are set for an 11 a.m. ET start at the Gibson Track and Field Complex.
