Lowder Sets Two Meet Records at UW-La Crosse Final Qualifier

NCAA to announce final qualifiers list Sunday, March 9

LA CROSSE, Wis., WAVERLY, Iowa – The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field teams had a handful of student-athletes competing at the Wartburg and University of La Crosse Final Qualifiers, Saturday, March 8, looking to better their qualifying marks to the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships set to take place in Rochester, N.Y. next Friday-Saturday, March 14-15. 

Junior Adriana Crabtree (Normal, Ill.-University High) represented the Green and White in Waverly, Iowa at the Warburg Final Qualifier meet as she turned in her second-fastest mile race of the season with a 5:00.80 time, finishing fourth in the 16-person field. 

Junior Evan Lowder (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) set a new meet record at UW-La Crosse's Final Qualifier in the men's 400m. Lowder clocked a 48.04-second effort to lower his own school record and take first in the meet. His time unofficially ranks fifth in Division III this season. Sophomore Reece Dusek (Peoria, Ill.-Dunlap) also ran the event, turning in a time of 50.52 to place sixth in the field. 

Lowder came back to run the 200m where he set yet another meet record with a time of 21.95 seconds. The junior's time unofficially ranks 25th in Division III this season.

Freshman Nick Walker (Metamora, Ill.-Metamora) finished fourth in the men's high jump with a clearance of 1.93m (6'4"). 

The top-20 declared student-athletes in each individual event and the top-12 declared relay teams qualify for the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships. The NCAA and USTFCCCA will announce the final qualifiers list on Sunday, March 9.
