Women’s Tennis Hosts Loras For Senior Day

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's tennis team plays at home Saturday, March 29, against Loras College for Senior Day. The Titans moved to 8-9 on the season after a 5-2 win against Earlham Friday, March. 14. Action is set to begin at 1 p.m., with senior day festivities starting at 12:45 p.m. tentatively.

IWU will honor seniors Kate Christian (Washington, Ill.-Washington Community) and Andie Wilson (Champaign, Ill.-Centennial). Both Christian and Wilson are two-time letterwinners for the Titans, and both have been named CSC Academic All-District, with Christian garnering the CCIW RESPECT award twice (2023, 2024). 

The Titans closed out their spring break trip in Gulf Shores, Ala. with a 5-2 win over Earlham College Friday afternoon, March 14. With the win, IWU tied the most wins in a season since the 2012-13 campaign. 

The match saw sophomores Amber Ehrlich (Springfield, Ill.-Glenwood) and Olivia Bell (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington) win at No. 1 doubles. Freshmen Gabi Lipske (Gurnee, Ill.-Mundelein) and Katie Van Heuklon (Normal, Ill.-Normal West) secured the one-point decision in the No. 2 doubles spot. Wilson and junior Marianna Arias (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington) locked in the sweep at the No. 3 doubles. 

IWU will meet Loras College on the courts for the first time in program history. The Duhawks are coming off a 7-0 win against the University of Northwestern (Minn.). 

The Titans will play on the outdoor courts of Evergreen Racquet Club, beginning at 1 p.m. Results will be posted on iwusports.com upon the completion of the match.
