KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's tennis team completed its time at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional, hosted by Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Mich., Friday, Sept. 27. It marked IWU's first appearance at the tournament since 2016.
Sophomores
Amber Ehrlich (Springfield, Ill.-Glenwood) and
Olivia Bell (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington) opened their ITA debut with a win in doubles action. The duo defeated Anna Fletcher and Nicole Flock from Capital University, 8-7(4). Playing in the round of 32, the pair fell to ninth-ranked Otterbein College's Erin Storrer and Lillia Walter, 8-3.
Ehrlich opened her individual play against Lilliam Dockal from Lake Forest College, dropping both sets 6-4, 6-3. Playing in the consolation round of 64, Ehrlich completed her first ITA appearance with a loss to Oberlin College's Anna Pastore, falling 6-2 in both sets.
Bell began her singles portion of the weekend by facing Denison University's Caitlin VanWinkle, falling both sets 6-0. In the consolation round of 64, Bell dropped her sets, 6-1, 6-2 to Caroline Sproule of Wittenberg University.
The Titans turn their attention back to dual play, as Illinois Wesleyan welcomes Concordia University Chicago to Evergreen Racquet Club Monday, Sept. 30. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
