Day One Results

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. –
After six scored events on the first day of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championships, the Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field teams sit fourth and sixth, respectively in the team standings. IWU secured one CCIW title and nine all-conference performances Friday, May 3.

The Green and White men's squad totaled 25 points on opening day while the women posted 20 points. North Central leads on both sides as the men have 57 points and the women with 60.

Freshman Adam Beasley (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington) strung together three consecutive personal-best efforts in the men's long jump Friday afternoon, posting marks of 7.30m, 7.43m, and 7.44m. Beasley's last two jumps broke Illinois Wesleyan's school record and ranks fourth in Division III this season while his 7.44m (24'5") jump ties for the CCIW Outdoor meet record set by Carl Alexander of Millikin back in 1999. Sophomores Jahari Scott (Lake Bluff, Ill.-Lake Forest) and Carson Green (Centralia, Ill.-Centralia) garnered All-CCIW honors in the long jump with fourth (6.89m, 22'7.25") and sixth-place (6.80m, 22'3.75") finishes, respectively.

Scott and Green also earned spots in tomorrow's 100m dash finals after Scott posted a 10.96-second effort for sixth and Green's 11.06 seconds was good for ninth. Freshman Reece Dusek (Peoria, Ill.-Dunlap) split the two finishing seventh out of prelims with a 10.97 second mark.

In the men's 400-meter dash prelims, IWU advanced three Titans to finals with sophomore Evan Lowder (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) leading the way with an easy 49.33-second effort to boast the top time heading into finals. Dusek won his heat with ease with a 50.03-second time to sit fourth, while junior Joel Weber (Roanoke, Ill.-Roanoke-Benson) is fifth heading into tomorrow's finals (50.05). Lowder also earned his spot in the 200m dash championship heat after turning in a 21.98-second effort for second in prelims.

In the 400m hurdles, Alex Harvey (Galesburg, Ill.-Galesburg) holds the second-fastest time out of prelims, clocking a personal-best time of 55.16 to win his heat. Harvey and freshman Matt Hyland (Burbank, Ill.-Saint Laurence) both made it through to tomorrow's final in the 110m hurdles with Harvey finishing sixth (15.43) and Hyland in eighth (15.84).

Junior Ernie Waterson (Bloomington, Ill.-Cornerstone Christian Academy) turned in a personal-best time of 1:52.45 in the 800m run to qualify for tomorrow's title heat.

Sophomore Isaac Whitaker's (Bloomington, Ill.-Central Catholic) 4.58m (15'0.25") clearance in the pole vault was good for a fourth-place finish and All-CCIW honors, while junior CJ Ladewig (Palos Heights, Stagg) earned All-CCIW accolades with his seventh-place finish in the hammer throw (51.08m, 167'7").

On the women's side and in the last event of the night, junior Annalese Chudy (Libertyville, Ill.-Libertyville) paced herself to a runner-up and All-CCIW finish in the 10000m with a 37:11.74 time, while senior Amanda Wilson (Minooka, Ill.-Minooka) finished fourth in 38:00.22 to pick up All-CCIW honors. Also earning the all-conference tag on day one was senior Lauren Wong (Morton, Ill.-Morton) in the long jump (5.15m, 16'10.75"), sophomore Brooke Nazos (Batavia, Ill.-Batavia) in the 3000m steeplechase (12:02.02) – both finishing in eighth – while junior Carlyssa King (Decatur, Ill.-Moroa-Forsyth) finished fourth in the hammer throw with a personal-best toss of 53.05m (174') to sit 17th nationally and second in program history.

Freshman Peyton Stinger (Wonder Lake, Ill.-McHenry Community) notched a personal-best in the women's 800m prelim in 2:19.86 to hold the second-fastest time of the day with junior Emma McGrath (Oak Lawn, Ill.-Oak Lawn) earning the final spot into tomorrow's final with a homestretch kick for a personal-best time of 2:22.60. Freshman Imani Ogunribido (Hanover Park, Ill.-Lake Park) and senior Avery Smith (Naperville, Ill.-Naperville) earned spots in the 100m final as Ogunribido finished sixth (12.40) and Smith slide into the final in ninth (12.57).

Sophomore Jordynn Griffin (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) will race both the 200m and 400m finals tomorrow after finishing ninth in the 200m (25.81) and eighth in the 400m (59.43). Senior Jules Grunloh (Towanda, Ill.-Lexington) had a personal-best in the 400m (59.83) to grab the last qualifying spot for finals.

Events are set to begin at 10 a.m. Links to the full event schedule, live results, and a limited live stream can be found on the track and field schedule pages of iwusports.com.
