Track and Field Concludes Augustana Midwest Twilight Qualifier

Official NCAA qualifier list announced tomorrow, May 17

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field teams closed out their final meet ahead of the 2024 Division III Outdoor National Championships as the Titans competed in three events at the Augustana Midwest Twilight Qualifier Thursday, May 16. The official list of NCAA qualifiers will be announced by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association tomorrow, May 17.

Opening the day's competition was freshman Peyton Stinger (Wonder Lake, Ill.-McHenry Community) in the women's 800-meter run. Stinger clocked a 2:20.54, just one second off of her personal-best time this season, to finish ninth in the 23-person field.

Fellow freshman Imani Ogunribido (Hanover Park, Ill.-Lake Park) earned her qualifying mark into nationals a few weeks back at the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championships, but took advantage of one last opportunity to compete in the triple jump before the big stage. Ogunribido finished first in the invite section of the women's triple jump with a leap of 12.08 meters (39'7.75").

The men's 4-by-400m relay squad of junior Alex Harvey (Galesburg, Ill.-Galesburg), sophomores Joel Weber (Roanoke, Ill.-Roanoke-Benson) and Evan Lowder (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community), and freshman Reece Dusek (Peoria, Ill.-Dunlap) turned in an eighth-place finish while going up against 20 other relays, many of which rank among the top-20 in Division III this season. IWU's relay clocked a time of 3:14.01 out of the third heat.

IWU awaits the final qualifying list to be released by the USTFCCCA and the NCAA tomorrow, May 17. The Division III Outdoor National Championships will be held Thursday-Saturday, May 23-25, at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
