The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field teams competed at the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Outdoor Championships Friday-Saturday, May 3-4, as the men's squad turned in 125 points for third place and the women's 71 points was good for fifth.

Waterson’s Personal-Best Highlights Day One of Augustana Qualifier

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field teams sent three individuals to compete at the Augustana Midwest Twilight Qualifier in Rock Island, Ill. Wednesday, May 15. IWU will take another small squad out to Augustana tomorrow, May 16, to compete in the women's triple jump and the men's 4-by-400-meter relay. 

With just one Titan competing on the track on Wednesday, junior Ernie Waterson (Bloomington, Ill.-Cornerstone Christian Academy) clocked a personal-best effort of 1:51.94 in the men's 800-meter run to finish 16th in the loaded field of 28. His time currently ranks third in program history and 53rd in Division III this season. 

A pair of Titans represented IWU in field events on day one as junior Carlyssa King (Decatur, Ill.-Maroa-Forsyth) turned in a fourth-place finish in the women's hammer throw with a toss of 52.23 meters (171'4") before sophomore Isaac Whitaker (Bloomington, Ill.-Central Catholic) tied for 16th-place in the invite section of the men's pole vault with a clearance of 4.45m (14'7.25").

Day two of the Augustana Midwest Twilight Qualifier will kick off tomorrow, May 16, with the women's triple jump at 3 p.m. and the men's 4-by-400m relay at 8:40 p.m.
