The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field teams competed at the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Outdoor Championships Friday-Saturday, May 3-4, as the men's squad turned in 125 points for third place and the women's 71 points was good for fifth.

JOLIET, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's track teams capped off their weekend at the St. Francis Fighting Chance meet Saturday, May 11 with a trio of top-five performances.

Junior Ernie Waterson (Bloomington, Ill.-Cornerstone Christian Academy) posted the second-fastest time in the men's 800-meter run of 1:54.70 while sophomore Seth Hamerski (Mount Vernon, Ill.-Webber) finished 24th in the field of 49 runners. Freshman Peyton Stinger (Wonder Lake, Ill.-McHenry Community) finished in the middle of the 50-person field, clocking a time of 2:20.61 to finish 25th overall. 

A trio of Titans raced the men's 400m, including junior Alex Harvey (Galesburg, Ill.-Galesburg) who finished ninth (50.17), and sophomore Joel Weber (Roanoke, Ill.-Roanoke-Benson), and freshman Tyrice Bender who finished 13th (51.08) and 23rd (53.74), respectively. 

Sophomore Evan Lowder (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) finished fifth in the men's 200m, posting a 21.84-second effort as freshman Reece Dusek (Peoria, Ill.-Dunlap) finished 31st in 22.65 seconds. 

Sophomore Isaac Whitaker (Bloomington, Ill.-Central Catholic) was the sole field event competitor for the Titans on Saturday as he turned in a 4.55 meter (14'11.25") effort with first attempt clearances at both 4.40m and 4.55m, as he tied for fourth-place. 

IWU is set to compete at Augustana College's Midwest Twilight Qualifier next Wednesday-Thursday, May 15-16, for a last-stitch effort to better its qualifying marks ahead of the NCAA Division III Track and Field Outdoor Championships, May 23-25.
