JOLIET, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan University men's track and field team sent a small group to Joliet Memorial Stadium, Friday, May 10 for the St. Francis Fighting Chance meet hosted by the University of St. Francis (Ill.). The Titans turned in a pair of top-five finishes ahead of Saturday's events.

Freshman Matt Lindberg (Springfield, Ill.-Glenwood) opened the weekend's competition in the men's high jump. After a first-attempt clearance at his opening height of 1.90 meters (6'2.75"), Lindberg would utilize all three attempts at 1.95m (6'4.75") – an outdoor personal-best – to finish fourth overall in the 13-person field. Lindberg's jump solidifies his spot in the program's all-time top-10 list.

The 4-by-400-meter relay quartet of junior Alex Harvey (Galesburg, Ill.-Galesburg), sophomore Evan Lowder (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community), and freshmen Reece Dusek (Peoria, Ill.-Dunlap) and Tyrice Bender came away with a first-place finish in the field of eight, clocking a 3:14.55 effort, just two tenths of a second ahead of runner-up squad, Olivet Nazarene University.

IWU returns to the St. Francis Fighting Chance meet Saturday, May 11, with the Titans' first event, the men's pole vault, set for 12 p.m. The Green and White will also have competitors in the men's and women's 800m and the men's 200m and 400m dashes.
