CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. – The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field teams traveled to Wabash College for the Huntsman Family Track and Field Invitational Saturday, April 6.
IWU saw ten improvements to its top-10 program history lists while eight Titans won their respective events.
Junior
Alex Harvey (Galesburg, Ill.-Galesburg) swept in the 110- and 400-meter hurdle races clocking a 15.62-second effort in the 110m hurdles and 56.05 seconds in the 400m hurdles. Freshman
Adam Beasley (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington) won the long jump with a 7.07m leap to rank fourth in the program's all-time list. Beasley also took second in the high jump with a 2.01m clearance, a mark good for third in program history outdoors.
Junior
CJ Ladewig (Palos Heights, Ill.-Stagg) threw a monstrous personal best of 51.42m to win the hammer throw and rank fourth in program history. Sophomore
Evan Lowder (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) was just shy of the program record in the 400m dash, turning in a 47.14 to win the event and ranks second all-time at IWU. Sophomore
Isaac Whitaker (Bloomington, Ill.-Central Catholic) won the pole vault with a 4.45m clearance.
Freshmen
Reece Dusek, Noah Sadowski (Burr Ridge, Ill.-Hinsdale South), and
Tyrice Bender teamed up with Harvey for the 4-by-400m relay where the quartet clocked a 3:20.22 effort to take second place and ranks fifth in IWU history.
A pair of Titans earned second-place finishes from the men's squad with junior
Ernie Waterson (Bloomington, Ill.-Cornerstone Christian Academy) in the 800m (1:54.46), and sophomore
Zack Daniel (Lake Barrington, Ill.-Barrington) in the 1500m (4:06.04).
Turning in third-place efforts for the men were Bender in the 200m (22.54), sophomore
Jahari Scott (Lake Bluff, Ill.-Lake Forest) in the 100m (10.97) and the long jump (6.48m), fifth-year
Drew Tatlock (North Pekin, Ill.-Pekin Community) in the high jump (1.85m), sophomore
Sam Okewole (Tinley Park, Ill.-Tinley Park) in the triple jump (13.08m) and junior
Matthew Wagner (Normal, Ill.Central Catholic) in the men's shot put (13.64m).
The women's throws squad led the way for the Titans as junior
Carlyssa King (Decatur, Ill.-Maroa-Forsyth) won the hammer throw with a 46.88m toss, good for fifth in program history. Freshman
Loreal Tucker (Herrin, Ill.-Herrin) turned in a runner-up finish in the discus throw with a personal best mark of 37.36m. Tucker's effort ranks ninth all-time for IWU. Also bettering her mark in the program's top-10 list was freshman
Lauryn Moore (Bolingbrook, Ill.-Bolingbrook) who finished third in the women's shot put with a personal best effort of 11.28m to sit eighth in program history.
Freshman
Imani Ogunribido (Hanover Park, Ill.-Lake Park) won the triple jump with an 11.64m mark to move into the No. 6 spot all time, and was also a part of the 4x100m relay quartet with freshmen
Olivia Skibinski (Peoria, Ill.-Richwoods) and
Katarina Petrovic (Willowbrook, Ill.-Hinsdale South) and senior
Avery Smith (Naperville, Ill.-Naperville North) that finished second overall with a 48.96 second time.
Also turning in runner-up finishes were senior
Lauren Wong (Morton, Ill.-Morton) in the triple jump (11.05m), sophomore
Brooke Nazos (Batavia, Ill.-Batavia) in the 3000m steeplechase (12:08.31), and freshman
Peyton Stinger (Wonder Lake, Ill.-McHenry Community) in the 400m (1:01.96).
Third-place efforts came from seniors
Tori Burke (Clinton, Ill.-Clinton) in the 200m dash (26.93),
Peyton Pollman (Mapleton, Ill.-Illini Bluffs) in the 400m dash (1:02.72), and
Nile Doucette (New Orleans, La.-Taylor Science Tech Academy) in the 800m run (2:28.77).
IWU is back on the road next Saturday, April 13 as the Titans travel to Greenville, Ill. for the Greenville Select.
