ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field teams turned in 18 top-10 performances on the second day of Meet of Champions, Saturday, April 20, hosted by Augustana College.

Both IWU programs finished 10th out of 24 teams as the women's squad posted 45 points and the men scored 44.5. Washington University in St. Louis won on both sides with WashU's women posting 196.5 points and its men scoring 127.

Senior Lauren Wong (Morton, Ill.-Morton) won the women's triple jump with a leap of 11.56m (37'11.25"). Wong also turned in an eighth-place finish in the long jump (4.91m, 16'1.50").

For the second week in a row, junior Carlyssa King (Decatur, Ill.-Forsyth-Maroa) threw a monstrous personal-best in the women's hammer, this time surpassing her previous mark by nearly seven feet. King's toss of 52.33 meters (171'3") earned her a runner-up finish in the meet, while she ranks second in program history, fourth in the conference, and 15th in Division III this season.

Junior Evelyn Wilson (Geneseo, Ill.-Geneseo) finished fifth in the high jump with a 1.57 meter (5'1.75") clearance. Eighth-place finishes on the women's side came from freshman Lauryn Moore (Bolingbrook, Ill.-Bolingbrook) in the shot put (10.86m, 35'7.75"), sophomore Brooke Nazos (Batavia, Ill.-Batavia) in the 3000-meter steeplechase (12:22.44), junior Jordynn Griffin (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) in the 400-meter dash (1:02.09), and freshman Madyson Synstad (Goodyear, Ariz.-Canyon View) in the 100-meter hurdles (16.22). Freshman Olivia Skibinksi (Peoria, Ill.-Richwoods) earned the Titans final top-10 finish on the women's side, doing so in the 100-meter dash (12.44).

Freshman Matt Lindberg (Springfield, Ill.-Glenwood) won the men's high jump competition by way of tiebreaker. Lindberg and teammate Adam Beasley (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington) both cleared 1.94 meters (6'4.25"), but Lindberg picked up the win as he had the least amount of misses in the competition. Lindberg's mark ties for 10th in program history and is the second-best mark in the CCIW this season. Beasley also competed in the long jump, turning in a fourth-place finish (6.55m, 21'6").

Sophomore Isaac Whitaker (Bloomington, Ill.-Central Catholic) earned a runner-up finish with a personal-best effort in the men's pole vault of 4.73 meters (15'6.25"). Whitaker's mark ranks second in both the CCIW and program history as well as 21st nationally.

Junior Matthew Wagner's (Normal, Ill.-Central Catholic) best shot put of the day at 13.80 meters was good for a sixth-place finish.
