ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field teams sent a small squad to kick off the weekend's competition at Augustana College's Meet of Champions Friday, April 19 at the Austin E. Knowlton Outdoor Athletic Complex in Rock Island, Ill. Field events will resume Saturday, April 20 at 10:30 a.m. and the first event on the track is set for 10:40 a.m.

Halfway through her first collegiate 10000-meter run, senior Amanda Wilson (Minooka, Ill.-Minooka) maneuvered to the head of the pack where she settled into the lead spot. Wilson led the rest of the way as she turned in a first-place time of 37:09.89, setting a new meet record by nearly 17 seconds and is the eighth fastest mark in program history. Sophomore Abby Quinn (Chicago, Ill.-Marist) clocked a 42:14.66 in the 10k for eighth place. 

Juniors Caitlin McCane (Bloomington, Ill.-Tri-Valley) and Jadyn Bothe (Oregon, Ill.-Oregon) competed in the women's javelin throw Friday afternoon as McCane turned in a 28.09 meter (92'2") toss to place 13th while Bothe's mark of 26.56m (87'1") was good for 17th in the 36-person field. In the women's discus throw, freshman Loreal Tucker (Herrin, Ill.-Herrin) produced a 34.50m (113'2") mark to finish 20th out of 42. 

On the men's side, junior Nick Fisch (Woodridge, Ill.-Montini Catholic) clocked a 32:45.81 in his first collegiate 10k to place 26th overall while senior Josh Tong (Naperville, Ill.-Naperville North) turned in a 34:30.14 to finish 42nd in the 54-person field. Fisch's time ranks eighth in IWU program history. 

Senior Joshua Klein (Glen Carbon, Ill.-Edwardsville) finished 35th in the javelin throw with a 27.24m (89'4") effort.
