ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. - The fourth-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University men's golf team cracked open its spring season with a fifth-place finish at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Sunday, March 24, held at King & Prince Golf Course at Jekyll Island. The Green and White carded an 11-over, 295, in its final round to finish the tournament with a score of 879 (292-292-295). 

Fifth-year Bobby Beaubien (Barrington, Ill.-Barrington) led IWU as he tied for 20th place. Beaubien finished with a 54-hole total of 220 (73-73-74). Sophomore Michael Spitzer (Hillsdale, Ill.-Hinsdale Central) tied for 27th (70-75-76=221), while fellow sophomore Juney Bai (Mokena, Ill.-Lincoln-Way Central) earned a share of 33rd, finishing with a total of 222 (72-72-78). 

Third-ranked Oglethorpe University won the tournament with a three-day score of 870 (297-278-295), while No. 6 Carnegie Mellon University finished second (297-279-299=875). No. 21 Guilford College took home third place honors (295-288-293=876), while Rhodes College edged past the Titans with a total of 877 (284-291-302) to finish fourth.

Illinois Wesleyan returns home to host the IWU Invite Friday-Saturday, April 5-6. The Titans will play Friday's round at Ironwood Golf Course, while Saturday will take place at Weibring Golf Course.
