MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field teams posted five top-15 finishes on day two of the loaded Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Friday, March 15. The Titans are set to conclude their spring break trip tomorrow Saturday March 16 with the third and final day of the invitational.
Sophomore Jahari Scott (Lake Bluff, Ill.-Lake Park) led the Titans on day two as he notched a personal best effort of 10.96 seconds in the 100-meter dash, a mark good for 12th in the field and fifth all-time in IWU history. Scott also competed in the long jump, posting a 6.59-meter (21'7.50") mark to place 18th overall. Freshman Carson Green (Centralia, Ill.-Centralia) also competed in both events, finishing 19th in the long jump (6.51m, 21'4.25") and 32nd in the 100m (11.20).
Sophomore Joe Freedman (Libertyville, Ill.-Libertyville) clocked an 11.10-second run in the 100m to place 23rd while freshman Cole Marshall (Mahomet, Ill.-Mahomet Seymour) finished 55th in the 82-person field (11.51). In the men's open 400-meter dash, freshman Yae Hosea (Carlock, Ill.-Normal West) finished 10th overall with a 52.20-second effort. Senior Joshua Klein (Glen Carbon, Ill.-Edwardsville) threw a 30.21m (99'1") mark in the men's javelin to finish 42nd overall.
On the women's side, junior Annalese Chudy (Libertyville, Ill.-Libertyville) turned in the fourth fastest time out of 40 competitors in the women's 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:21.35. Freshman Olivia Skibinski (Peoria, Ill.-Richwoods) finished 52nd out of 78 competitors in the 100-meter dash in 13.22 seconds. Junior Emma McGrath (Oak Lawn, Ill.-Oak Lawn) competed in the open 800-meter run where she posted a seventh-place finish with a time of 2:32.00.
IWU will cap off their spring break trip at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invite on Saturday. The first field event the Titans will compete in is set for 9:30 a.m. with the men's discus, while IWU's first event on the track is set for 10 a.m. with the women's 3,000-meter run.
