ORLANDO, Fla. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's tennis team dropped a non-conference match to State University of New York (SUNY) Geneseo, 8-1, Thursday, March 14.
The freshmen duo of Amber Ehrlich (Springfield, Ill.-Glenwood) and Olivia Bell (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington) picked up the victory for the Green and White's only victory in the match. The pair secured an 8-3 victory at No. 1 doubles.
Senior Macy Michorczyk (Franklin Park, Ill.-West Leyden) put up a tremendous fight at No. 5 singles, winning the lone set by a Titan in singles action on the day. Michorczyk grabbed a 6-4 win in the first, but SUNY Geneseo's Katie Kujawa took the next to 6-0 and 10-3 to earn the point.
The match marked the conclusion of IWU's spring break trip as the Titans now turn their attention to the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Tournament. Illinois Wesleyan opens the conference battle with a first-round matchup against Elmhurst University Sunday, April 14. First serve is set for 3 p.m. at Evergreen Racquet Club. The remainder of the bracket will play out April 25-27 in Bloomington, with IWU serving as host.
